Is the iPad Pro Worth It?

Is the iPad Pro Worth It?

Hey guys this is Austin. Is the iPad Pro worth
it? With a larger screen and shiny Pro badge the new iPad is a departure from previous
iPads. Slide open the box and you’ll find the iPad Pro itself, lift it out of the way
and underneath are your accessories. You’ll find a two meter Lightning cable for charging
and syncing, a 12 watt USB power adapter and paperwork with Apple stickers tucked inside.
Unwrap the Pro and you’ll see it’s big, it’s even a fair bit larger than the 12
inch MacBook. The design is similar to the smaller iPads with a Lighting port along with
a pair of speakers on bottom, another pair of speakers on top along with a headphone
jack, volume buttons, rear camera and sleep button and three small connectors along the
left side for accessories like the Smart Keyboard. It’s one thing to see it in pictures and
video but it’s another thing to actually try it. The iPad Pro is huge. That’s not
necessarily a bad thing, having extra screen real estate can be nice but at the end of
the day it’s a big iPad. It is thin and light for its size and while you’ll probably
want to use two hands with it it’s comfortable to hold and use. With a 12.9 inch display
the screen looks fantastic, I can easily see watching an entire movie on this especially
with the solid speakers on all four corners. It’s rocking a resolution of 2732 by 2048
which is enough to run two iPad apps side by side, on a 13 inch screen this is enough
detail to even show up most laptops. Where things get really interesting is performance.
The iPad Pro is rocking a dual core Apple A9X, four gigs of memory and either 32 or
128 gigabytes of storage. This is no joke, it easily handles any game available in the
App Store like Lara Croft GO and Geometry Wars and gaming on such a large tablet is
a pretty cool experience. Get into benchmarks and it’s even more impressive, it’s competitive
with the Core i5 equipped Surface Pro 4 on the CPU side and in graphics it absolutely
destroys every other tablet out there. This isn’t just a powerful tablet, this is a
powerful computer that puts a lot of laptops to shame. Unfortunately iOS really isn’t
up to taking advantage of all that power. It excels at things like web browsing with
buttery smooth performance and there are some cool creative apps like Paper for sketching
ideas and uMake which creates full 3D models out of your drawings. Apps like iMovie allow
you to edit basic 4K video far better than you would expect out of an iPad and you’ll
find Microsoft apps like Word, PowerPoint and Excel in addition to the Apple equivalents
to get real work done. Apps like these really show off the potential but that’s mostly
it for now, there are a ton of pro level apps that just aren’t available for iOS. There
are some accessories available like the Logitech Create keyboard which is what I used to write
this review and while it does work if you really rely on a keyboard you’re probably
better off just buying a MacBook. The same holds true for the Smart Keyboard, for $170
it’s just ridiculous. Ridiculous. It’s just, ridiculous. The Apple Pencil is a little
cooler as it allows you to sketch a lot better than a traditional stylus and while it’s
nicely designed as a $100 add on it really only makes sense if you’re serious about
design. There’s a lot to like about the iPad Pro. While I feel like it’s slightly
too big having a huge tablet has advantages, it’s got solid battery life with a great
screen and speakers and near overkill levels of performance. My biggest problem is that
at the end of the day it really is just a big, expensive iPad. For some that’s going
to be worth it but for most people you’re better off getting a MacBook or a Surface.
Do you guys think the iPad Pro is worth it? Let me know in the comments below and I will
catch you in the next one!

  1. 900$ for 128GB iPad Pro… I actually can buy a gaming laptop with this budget… with great battery life for videos and office work…. and also can be use for gaming and video rendering….

  2. nope! Apple is not worth it!I mean some things that suck at gaming, just look good and are big like an iMac the specs suck and it costs over 500 dollars you better buy an surface RT at that money and you can game from the Windows Store and you can play games like Minecraft and yeah….

  3. I hate to tell you this, but Geekbench is completelyย worthlessย for comparing ARM chips to Intel. That benchmark is extremely deceptive because Geekbench heavily favors ARM chips, single-core tasks, and especially SHA encryption. The Surface Pro 4 is way faster than the iPad Pro and PC World proved it by running real benchmarks, and the SP4 and SP3 crushed it. Even the Surface 3 with an Atom chip beat it in one benchmark.

It is an extremely fast ARM chip, but it in no way compares to i5, i7, or even Core M.

  4. Exited with the same tech from years ago………just kinda optimised
EDIT: what I mean is that there is Touch ID and Apple Pencil and keyboard support

  5. It Is Worth It? Yes, why not?
Editing on iMovie is alot easier
Im still gonna buy iPad Pro 12.9 even it's big and expensive…

  6. I joined a giveaway, Iโ€™m hoping I win the iPad Pro, and please donโ€™t say the giveaway is fake, somebody actually won red iPhone 7, so shut up

  8. I am going to the visual art stream night school and they only let you bring iPad Pro our a surface tablet

  9. ๐Ÿค” the iPad Pro is pretty good so far I have an app for video editing on it but I donโ€™t think you would consider it hard core editing

  10. Now stop fighting

Surface Pro – More on computer. Yea sure, It can be used in tablet mode, but there is not much apps that supports this tablet feature.

iPad Pro – More on tablet. Yes, it can be used as a PC, but not really. It is really good if you don't need to do complex things like basic word. But if we are talking about heavy video editing. This is not recommended. If we are talking about arts and basic neccessities, go with the iPad Pro for sure

  11. I got a question. Hope u can help me out. I got a ipad pro 10.5 and I use a SteelSeries Nimbus controller, pencil, magic keyboard. I use it as a work laptop and gaming. I was wondering if a cooling pad be useful for it. Like does the ipad heat up to the point it needs it? To me feels warm only. I want to make sure I dont kill thr ipad from the usage I give it

  12. ipad pro is just a big toy. That's all. When I have to use few applications on the same screen and switch them right away whenever I want, iPad pro is not even a productive device for me. For those who don't care about the price, it's a okay, but it is still not worthy.

  13. That movie letter boxing looked like complete shit ….all that screen space and there was like 6 inches of letterbox. Iโ€™m so sick of this shit where the fuck is full screen or the ability to utilize the whole fucking screen 2018 nah 2011

  14. I have the iPad Pro is so good smart till today I bought the 2016 model Iโ€™m getting the Apple Pencil or the keyboard โŒจ๏ธ

  15. Recently, my school had a competition throughout the week. I of course didn't win but my happy classmate won an iPad pro… I feel like crap… Plain and simple!

  16. Nah, 512 GB. Also I heart๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค๐Ÿ’œโค the ipad pro.

  17. Well Iโ€™m 13 and my parents wont let me buy a laptop so… i need a keyboard i think itโ€™s worth the money if you cant afford a laptop

  18. Yaโ€™ll ever watch Victorious and how their pairpads were huge as fuck, yup, thats what the iPad is now….

  19. Ridiculous piece of crap…with that money better buy a Macbook Pro. ๐Ÿ™„ thanks for the video, I was thinking to buy this one but, at the end of the day is just a piece of crap. โœŒ

  20. Am planning on buying it ,
